Invisalign
Do you sometimes look in the mirror and feel dissatisfied with the appearance of your smile? Do you find it challenging to keep your teeth clean due to misaligned or overlapping teeth? If so, Invisalign can resolve both issues. It is appropriate for older children, teenagers, and adults.
How Does Invisalign Work?
Invisalign is the brand name of a set of clear plastic aligners used during orthodontic treatment. They work the same way traditional braces do by applying pressure to your teeth to shift into a new position. However, the aligners are much more discreet than standard braces containing brackets, wires, and small rubber bands. People may not even know that you are wearing an Invisalign aligner when they are standing right next to you.
Steps Involved in Invisalign Treatment
If you are considering straightening your teeth with Invisalign aligners, you should first schedule a consultation with Dr. Ruba Rizqualla. The appointment, which lasts about an hour, is your opportunity to ask questions and receive detailed answers about this type of orthodontic treatment.
Dr. Rizqualla needs to determine if you are a good candidate for orthodontic treatment with Invisalign before proceeding with additional appointments. Although most patients can wear the aligners without problems, people with severe overbites, underbites, or misalignment issues typically do better with traditional metal braces.
Your dentist also takes X-rays and impressions of your teeth to help determine the best course of treatment. Our on-site laboratory technicians use the impressions of your teeth and gums to create a set of customized aligners. When the laboratory has finished creating your aligners, someone from our office will contact you to schedule an appointment.
When you come in for your next appointment, Dr. Rizqualla asks you to place the first aligner from the set into your mouth to see how well it fits. He will make any necessary adjustments at that time. You should plan to wear the aligner for two weeks before discarding it and wearing the next aligner for two weeks. You will complete this process multiple times until you have finished orthodontic treatment at Hudson View Dental.
